In this time of turmoil, our troops need to know they are not forgotten. Their job takes no vacation and their goals are protecting our liberty, freedom and way of life. Write to them or call often, send packages from home and keep them in your prayers. Our visits to the Paramus Veterans Home continue on the third Tuesday of each month throughout the summer. Come join us. I wish you all an enjoyable and safe summer vacation. 


1.) Veterans Council meeting: Mon., Sep. 11, 2017 at 7:30 PM.
2.) Regular Meeting: Fri. Jul. 14 and Aug. 11, 2017 at 7:30 PM.
3.) Regular Auxiliary Meeting: No regular meetings during June, July and August.
4.) Hospital Party: Tues. Jul. 18 and Aug. 15 , 2017. Meet at the Paramus Veterans Home at 7:00 PM.
5.) Fair Lawn Seniors bus trip to Bally’s Casino, Atlantic City: Thurs. Jul. 27. Bus leaves at 8:00 AM from the municipal parking lot. Cost is $ 25. Call Elaine Burns at 201-791-5290.

1.) On Friday, June 23, 2017, the following members were installed to the positions listed for the years 2017/2018.:

The installation was performed by Mario R. Lembo, Finance Officer, Bergen County American Legion. Pastor David Boone of Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church gave the invocation and closing prayer. Fair Lawn Mayor John Cosgrove and his deputy, Kurt Peluso attended and the Mayor gave a congratulatory speech. Senator Robert Gordon could not attend but sent Citations of Commendation & Praise which were presented to each newly appointed officer of both our Post and it”s Auxiliary. A light buffet was offered after the installation with dessert provided by our Auxiliary Unit 171.

2.) Veterans Council: Memorial Paver Program: We have restarted the Memorial Paver program, to add memorial engraved pavers to those already installed in front of the municipal building. Cost is $50 per paver. ELIGIBILITY: Present/Past member of a Fair Lawn Veterans Post, living or deceased, present/former Fair Lawn resident or their family member(s), who served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time, members of the Merchant Marine who served during WWII. Each application will be vetted – proof of service required for non veteran post applicants. (copy of Service record DD214 or Honorable Discharge document) Applications for pavers will be made available at the municipal building, through the Veteran Liaison Officer, Nick Magarelli, and through the local veteran posts, Library, and Fair Lawn Community Center. 3.) HUNTERDON HILLS PLAYHOUSE: We have a reservations for Tuesday 9/19/2017  matinee show to see “COME BLOW YOUR HORN”. Tickets are $85 per person. This includes a full dinner, the bus transportation, the taxes  and gratuity at the playhouse. We will be departing from the Post at 9:45 AM sharp. We need a guarantee of 40 people to keep this price and I would love to get more than that of course (hope for 2 buses). This event is open to the community so please share this information with your family, friends and neighbors. 4.) Member participation at the last few regular meetings has been low and we encourage you to make every effort to attend. Without your inputs and support we can not generate social events and support various programs. Help from all members, no matter how small, is vital to our operation.
