We are getting closer to warmer weather. I hope everyone is well.I know a lot of things are happening. The world is opening up hopefully soon so we can have a sense of normalcy.I hope everyone is taking good care of themselves and their love ones.Everyone stay the course we must stay strong and vigilant and always prepared.

IN MEMORIAM
Member Yuri Metelow passed away December 15, 2020. An American Legion Memorial service was held for him on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Kugler Community Funeral Home in Saddle Brook. Yuri was very active in the Fair LawnCommunity and will be missed. We wish his family our sincerest sympathy.

CURRENT OPERATION NOTES
1.) WELCOME: Thanks to the ongoing efforts of our Vice Commander and Membership Chairman Don Morris, we have added ten new members over the last several months. The are: James Aumenta, James Bakker, Hector Bellido, Herb Currie, Alonzo Davies, John Falahee, Alan Findlay, Dr. Frank Kardos, Jeff Mc Gill, and Robert Ramaglino. We welcome you all and look forward to meeting you at our regular meetings and all other events as soon as this pandemic allows. Regular meetings are held the 2nd Friday of each month and conform to Covid 19 limitations (masks and social distancing etc.).You can participate virtually by calling our commander at 201-796-9667 or email madeline275@gmail.com
2.) 2021 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL We are quickly approaching our goal of 100%. 122 out of 150 members having renewed already. Please either send in your renewal or renew online ASAP. We are trying to get all membership renewals in since it helps the post financially, and also frees us up to do other things. If you have questions, please contact our Membership Chairman, Don Morris ( 201-803-0429..DFMorris@live.com.)
3.) Hall Use: All gatherings in New Jersey have been limited to 50 people.We are booking rentals: two for January, three inquiries for February, One wedding each for June and July. All parties must end bat 10:00 PM.
4.) Entertainment: SUPER BOWL SUNDAY: Sunday February 07, 2021, at 5:00 PM. at the American Legion Post 171,17-08 River Road, Fair Lawn. Cost: $10.00 for food, cash bar. RSVP by January.30, 2021. Call 201-796-9667 or email madeline275@gmail.com
5.) Tricky Tray Silent Auction: Our commander, Madeline, is organizing this event for February 27th, 2021 and needs help. Call 201-796-9667 or email madeline275@gmail.com
6.) Fund Raising: With our reduction in income due to Pandemic restraints but little reduction in expenses (insurance, utilities, maintenance, NEWSLETTER supplies and postage, etc) our post is feeling a pinch and is looking into ways to augment our income. One suggestion was to ask our members for an annual, voluntary donation of $10.00. We could really use your help. If you can help please make checks payable to American Legion Post 171 and mail to our post. We thank you for your assistance.
7.) SAL: We have been told by the county that our SAL (Sons Of The American Legion) is a paper organization only. It has no squadron leader and not officially active. We are looking into starting a new unit, with the help of County Commander Barnes.
