COMMANDERS’ MESSAGE
I hope all is well. As we see the seasons change once again we hope that all things are working together for good.
Many things are changing at the post we have now been allowed to open up the hall rentals to 35% capacity Which means about 70 people will be able to enjoy each other’s company. Our post rentals are becoming more popular so soon enough we should have a good percentage on the books.
I am now hosting a zoom and in person meetings the second Friday of every month for those that still need to stay home or cannot make it to the meetings. The meeting number and password should be provided for you in this newsletter.
I am sorry to inform you but the tricky tray selling auction has been postponed once again. Future date to be announced.
We have been blessed to have received $2500 in grants from Bergen County American Legion, which has allowed us to stay in the black and be able to pay the bills. Thank you Big B. I also want to thank all those that have given donations it has been Truly appreciated. I can always count on you guys to step up.

IN MEMORIAM
We were just notified that member Albert Ruffini passed away December 16, 2020. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Ruffin family.

Jim Mc Ginn is advancing with his chemo therapy, Don Morris is recuperating from minor surgery. Loretta Thomas is not feeling well. Rich Cappozi is recuperating from rotator cuff surgery. We wish them all a speedy recovery. DATES TO REMEMBER

1.) CONGRATULATIONS: To Edwin J, Cerino. The National American Legion has awarded a Certificate of Continuous Membership of fifty years in the American Legion. Our post honors him for his years of support to our post and to the American Legion.
2.) Nomination of Officers: Need to nominate officers for 2021-2022. All current members are eligible to hold office. Please consider becoming active and participate. We need you to take part in creating and keeping an active and vibrant post..

4.) We give a big THANK YOU to: “Adopt A Soldier Platoon” founder, Alan Krutchkoff, VFW Commander Dave Boone, members Frank Baldino and Michael Farley for their generous donations to help or post through these trying times.
5) Fund Raising: With our reduction in income due to Pandemic restraints but little reduction in expenses (insurance, utilities, maintenance, NEWSLETTER supplies and postage, etc) our post is feeling a pinch and is looking into ways to augment our income. One suggestion was to ask our members for an annual, voluntary donation of $10.00. We could really use your help. If you can help please make checks payable to American Legion Post 171 and mail to our post.
We thank those who have heeded our plea for financial assistance. We have received $270.00 so far and are deeply grateful for your assistance.
